Job Description

  • Determine priorities and develop /challenge the brief; set the bar for depth of insights and creative fodder.
  • Use a research-driven approach to develop the right questions, be an aggregator and help us stand apart at the table.
  • Be able to bridge the gap between the consumer trends and the industry and determine appropriate channels for the brand based on editorial themes, target audience, brand objectives etc.
  • Explore the intersection of culture, brands and audiences from new angles to arrive at deeper insights, more provocative marketing strategies and breakthrough brand-building platforms.
  • Lead/consult the analysis of the 5 Cs:  Culture, Consumer, Competitive, Corporate and Communication.
  • Share work continually based on the user, not the client (i.e. Millennial moms, millennial employee,  boomer reworkers, etc).
  • Juggle multiple assignments and work in a high-pressure environment.
  • Manage time and establish priorities while maintaining flexibility to respond to changing demands.
  • Brainstorm new and creative growth strategies for clients
  • Manage a portfolio of accounts and ensure the overall performance of client campaigns
  • Demonstrate success in supporting business growth through new client wins and increased reach within existing clients
  • Map research timelines and milestones that can be adjusted and budgeted by Project Management and Account leads.
  • Partner with account leaders to ensure planning is appropriately staffed to the client need and potential.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with Edelman business units (Consumer, Digital, Corporate, etc.) to identify and articulate opportunities where there is no formal RFP or RFI.
  • Work directly with clients and prospects, gaining their trust, and inspiring them to take the right risks so they may become known for brand ‘firsts’ that wow their consumers and audiences while ensuring their professional success.
  • Is an active partner to New Business team and Account leads, developing prospecting and pitch materials.
  • Build relationships with individuals that have insights roles within client organizations.
  • Provide parameters of success for creative platform ideas in conjunction with creative directors.
  • Partner well with existing clients and teams during planning cycles and provides fresh insights/ideas as needed.
  • Articulate one’s role on an integrated team and sets clear expectations for what will be delivered and what information and partnership is needed in order to achieve the mutually desired outcomes.
  • Advocate for planning, the Living Brief, and infusing insights into the creative process.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently.
  • Keep up to date with innovative work across advertising and communications industries; share internal and external best practices with colleagues across practices, sectors and functions within the agency, inspiring others to uncover insights and think in new ways.
  • Mentor teams and direct reports as applicable and advance the planning function internally by developing their skills.

Qualifications And Experiences:-

  • At least eight years of extensive experience in account/ brand planning role at an advertising, creative, digital, integrated marketing or PR agency
  • Experience in planning, insight and analysis, with significant experience in applicable practice/sector.
  • Experience in an integrated marketing, advertising, digital or public relations agency setting.
  • Ability to develop big ideas into communications frameworks.
  • Familiarity with agency planning models and capabilities.
  • Solid grasp of brand strategy and brand equity assessment.
  • Proven track record of building effective interpersonal relationships with direct reports, strategy, creative and account management colleagues, leadership and clients, and successfully navigating matrixed organizations.
  • Strong presentation skills, ability to articulate smart and sometimes complex solutions in a straightforward and lucid manner to a variety of internal and external audiences.
  • Deft at developing powerful narratives to deliver insights and strategy for client buy-in
  • Understands the role that PR and social media play in the overall communications marketing mix.
