The West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited (WBPDCL) has now issued an Expression of Interest (EOI) seeking consultants for conducting the technical and feasibility studies of the proposed 500 Megawatt (MW) floating solar power project on the catchment areas of Bakreswar dam.

The WBPDCL will recruit the first consultants to conduct technical and feasibility studies to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR). Meanwhile, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will recruit a second consultant to prepare the project, including Environmental Impact Assessment, Social Safeguard Assessment, and other assessments.

The EOI notice said that both consultants would cooperate as required, including sharing data whenever needed. For the project, the West Bengal government has received loan financing through the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

As per the details, the consultant firm will be onboarded for 12 months with an estimated consulting service budget of USD 885,064. While the Department of Power of West Bengal will be the executing agency in this case, the WBPDCL will be the implementing agency. The EOI deadline is April 23, 2023, while the estimated commencement date is July 31, 2023.
