Waaree Solar Americas Appoints Gordon Brinser as COO

waaree energiesWaaree Solar Americas Inc., India’s largest manufacturer of solar PV modules with the largest aggregate installed capacity of 12 GW, as of June 30, 2023 (Source: CRISIL Report), has announced the appointment of Gordon Brinser as its new Chief Operating Officer. He has extensive experience and has been working towards advancing US manufacturing capabilities.

“The solar sector is an evolving market with the potential for significant and rapid growth in the coming years. This is the time to engage in this industry and contribute to moulding its future direction. I am extremely happy to be a part of Waaree Solar Americas Inc. and look forward to contributing to the company’s mission of providing sustainable energy solutions,” said Gordon Brinser, COO, Waaree Solar Americas Inc.

Formerly the Vice President of Operations at EnerSys, Brinser managed manufacturing sites, working towards aligning operations and the implementation of LEAN manufacturing programs. His appointment signifies a pivotal step forward for Waaree Solar Americas Inc. in the renewable energy sector.

Brinser, in a previous role at SolarWorld, a German, manufacturer of solar equipment, had pushed hard for tariffs on Chinese imports, in the early part of the 2010 decade and beyond.  He has since nuanced his perspective to conclude that tariffs may not be the only solution to fight Chinese imports to the US, and impact US manufacturing.

Waaree has significant  manufacturing plans for the US, with a 5 GW cell and module manufacturing plant slated to come up in Texas. In doing that, the firm is not only taking advantage of the IRA benefits, but also seeking to strengthen its position in a vital export market for it so far.
