Waaree Bags $105 Mn Order in California for Supply Solar Modules

Waaree Energies has received an order to supply solar modules worth more than 300 MW for a project under development in California, USA.

Waaree Energies Ltd, one of India’s largest solar panel manufacturers has announced that it has received an order to supply solar modules worth more than 300 MW in California USA. The modules will be supplied for a project based in California which is likely to get commissioned in the second or third quarter of 2021. The project shall install Waaree’s high efficiency 385, 390 Wp Mono-PERC modules.

The renewable power generated by the project will be sold through a power purchase agreement in the USA.

The modules supplied by the firm shall undergo rigorous quality tests and shall be inspected by one of the world’s top third-party agency. Recently, the firm became the first company to earn IECEE CB certifications for its bifacial solar modules. It also houses IEC-CB-CTF, a state-of-the-art laboratory for reliability testing and certification.

The firm stated that it has already supplied over 3 GW modules to date globally, and commissioned over 600 MW of solar EPC projects in India and Southeast Asia.

Sunil Rathi, Director Sales and Marketing said that “this is one of the biggest orders and shows the capabilities of Indian manufacturers to compete in the global market. We have recently completed the supply of 50 MW modules for a fortune 500 company in the USA, and are expecting more such developments in the USA. We plan to strengthen our base in the USA by opening a local office in California shortly. “

“We have 300 MW capacity of high efficiency bifacial and monofacial solar panels available for safe harbour this year,” he added.

Last year, with an aim to further expand its operations, the firm had announced that the expansion of its Gujarat based module manufacturing capacity to 2 GW from the earlier 1.5 GW. The firm, post the upgrade stated that its module production capacity had risen to 5.7 MW per day.
