Kerala May Allow Higher Feed-In Tariff For Prosumers With ESS
Indian public sector oil and gas company, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has awarded Volks Energie a contract for commissioning Solar Photovoltaic and Li-Ion Battery and Charger System for its Irugur-Devangonthi Pipeline (IDPL) Project.
The Irugur–Devangonthi Pipeline (IDPL), the petroleum product infrastructure initiative by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), spans from Irugur (near Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu) to Devangonthi, Karnataka – spanning approximately This project marks the second time BPCL has joined forces with Volks Energie for its pipeline infrastructure. While the earlier project was about pipelines between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the latest project is for the Pipeline across Tamil Nadu & Karnataka.
Li-Ion Battery Storage Integration
The project features solar photovoltaic systems integrated with advanced Li-Ion battery storage (BESS) that provide off-grid power backup for pipeline control stations and operational infrastructure. These systems will ensure power for critical equipment like SCADA, Cathodic Protection, and other power needs in remote stations across the pipeline.
Commenting on this significant development, Piyush Goyal, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Volks Energie said, “We are extremely delighted and honored that BPCL has entrusted us with another strategic and mission-critical ‘Solar + Battery’ deployment. It is a privilege that with each successful execution and deployment, we will ensure energy security for the nation by offering energy availability to critical applications in remote locations of the country and providing international-level safety to the equipment.”
