Vestas Secures Wind Turbine Orders Worth 366 MW Across Europe

Vestas has received four orders worth a combined 366 MW in wind turbine deliveries across Europe in Italy, Norway, Poland and Sweden.

Global wind turbine OEM Vestas has announced that it has received four orders worth a combined 366 MW in wind turbine deliveries across Europe. The four orders have been received in Italy, Norway, Poland and Sweden.

The first order has been awarded in the first Italian auction held in October 2019 for 48 MW capacity. The contract includes the supply and installation of 14 V136-3.45 MW wind turbines, as well as a ten-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) service agreement designed to ensure optimised performance for the lifetime of the project. Since installing its first turbine in Italy in 1991, Vestas has led the country’s wind industry with over 4.3 GW capacity installed, being the main contributor to the expansion of wind energy with a 40 percent market share. Turbine delivery will begin in the fourth quarter of 2020 with commissioning scheduled for the first quarter of 2021.

The second order has been secured from Green Investment Group Limited, a specialist developer, sponsor and investor and part of the Macquarie Group for the 79.8 MW wind project in Norway. GIG has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) which will provide revenue certainty for the project and deliver power to the local industry.

The firm has developed a customised solution for the project with 19 V150-4.2 MW turbines that combine its largest rotor in Norway with a 25-year Active Output Management (AOM 5000) service agreement and the Vestas Anti-Icing System, which efficiently minimises ice formation on blades.

Deliveries are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2021, while commissioning is planned for the fourth quarter of 2021.

The third order has been received from ERG, one of the leading wind energy operators in Europe, for 18 V100–2.0 MW turbines for the Laszki project that will be located in the province of Podkarpackie, Poland. Deliveries for the 36 MW order are expected to begin in the first half of 2021, while commissioning is planned for the second half of 2021.

The final order has been received in Sweden, where the firm has been enlisted to supply 47 V150-4.2 MW turbines worth a combined generational capacity of 202 MW. The order also includes a 27-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service contract, optimising the energy production for the lifetime of the project.

Turbine delivery is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2022, while commissioning is planned for the third quarter of 2022.
