For the 86 MW Project

Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) has given Vestas an 86 MW order to repower the Solano Wind Project Phase 4 wind farm in California, USA. The site’s present heritage V47-660 kW wind turbines will be replaced by 19 V150-4.5 MW wind turbines, which are included in the order. With this purchase, the overall installed capacity of the Solano Wind Project will be close to 300 MW.

The entire Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) contract is part of the order. Vestas will provide the entire turn-key solution which includes the supply, installation, and commissioning of the turbines.

A 10-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement is also included in the order to guarantee the asset’s optimal functioning. Vestas also extended its multi-year service agreements for the Solano 2 and Solano 3 project phases at the same site to further solidify its relationship with SMUD and guarantee the efficient operation of the entire Solano Wind Project.

For the 39 MW Project

Vestas has received a 39 MW order from Utilitas, for the Saarde wind project in Estonia.

Nine V150-4.2 MW turbines in 4.3 MW operating mode will be supplied, installed, and put into service as part of the deal. Vestas will also provide the maintenance service to the turbines which is a part of a 30-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service contract.

The Saarde wind project’s deliveries and installation are anticipated to start in the second quarter of 2023, and commissioning is scheduled for the second half of 2023.

The project is situated in the municipality of Saade in the southwestern Estonian county of Parnu.

Vice President for Vestas Sales North & West Juan Furones said, “We are thrilled to have been selected to supply our V150 turbines for the Saarde project in Estonia, continue the collaboration with Utilitas, and to help the country expedite its energy transition. The nine turbines we’re building will be the most advanced and efficient ones ever built in Estonia. Additionally, Utilitas has given us a 30-year full-scope service agreement, which will allow us to steadily grow our service footprint in the area.”
