Vestas Expands Footprint in Japan With two new Orders Vestas Bags 1,220 MW Capacity Orders for Wind Turbines from Europe & US

Global wind major Vestas has announced that it has expanded its footprint in Japan with a 43 MW order for the Yokohama-machi Wind Power Plant in Aomori prefecture, Japan. Owned by Japan Wind Development, the project will feature nine Vestas V117-3.45 MW and three Vestas V105-3.45 MW turbines with 94-meter towers. All turbines are delivered in 3.6 MW operating mode.

The order includes a multi-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement, providing an energy-based availability guarantee to ensure optimised performance and long-term business case certainty for the customer.

Delivery of Vestas’ turbines will begin in the first quarter of 2022, with commissioning scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2022.

The firm has also reported another order in the asian nation from Shimizu Corporation for the Oritsume Minami 1 Wind Farm in Iwate prefecture, Japan. The order worth 47 MW has been received for the project also owned by Japan Renewable Energy Corporation and being constructed by the Shimizu Corporation. The project will feature 13 V105-3.45 MW turbines in 3.6 MW operating mode with 84-meter towers.

Vestas will also undertake a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement for the wind farm, providing an energy-based availability guarantee to ensure optimised performance and long-term business case certainty for the customer. Delivery of Vestas’ turbines will begin in the first quarter of 2022, with commissioning scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2022.
