UKA, Nordex Intensify Collaboration On 500 MW Wind Projects

UKA and Nordex Group have announced extending their collaboration for a further two years to continue their existing partnership. Together, the two encompass a total of 80 wind turbine generators that generate a capacity of close to 500 MW.

UKA is among the top three wind farm developers in Germany while Nordex Group is a leading name in the world of wind turbine manufacturers in the world.

“In today’s difficult setting we particularly appreciate the spirit of partnership displayed by Nordex, which unfortunately can no longer be taken for granted. Due to the very good collaboration with Nordex we have decided to expand this partnership. We are looking forward to implementing a large number of projects with Nordex in the coming years,” said Gernot Gauglitz, Managing Partner of UKA.

Karsten Brüggemann, Vice President Region Central of the Nordex Group, has added, “Over the past few years UKA has established itself among the top German developers of wind farms. This collaboration also enables us to strengthen our position as one of the leading turbine suppliers in our domestic German market.”

Under the collaboration, Nordex Group is set to manufacture turbine nacelles at its production facility in Rostock, Germany. According to the official statement of the companies, the first orders entailing a volume worth 100 megawatts have already begun under the new framework agreement. They are to become operational next year.

This partnership is a milestone in clean energy since both UKA and Nordex Group are names to reckon with in the industry.

The UKA Group calls itself a full developer that covers the entire value chain as well as operating wind and solar farms itself. It is one of the leading German project developers with a current pipeline in Germany for onshore wind turbines of close to 1.2 GW in the approval process. The current pipeline of the company for wind and solar projects now contains more than 12 GW. It operates in Europe as well as North and South America with a workforce of around 750.

The Nordex Group, on the other hand, has installed over 39 GW worth of wind energy transcending as many as 40 markets. The company generated revenues of EUR 5.4 billion last year. Its joint manufacturing capacity includes factories in Germany, Spain, Brazil, the United States, India and Mexico.
