TrinaTracker Gets 108 MW Solar Tracker Order from Colombia

TrinaTracker, the wholly owned Single Axis Tracker manufacturer subsidiary of Trina Solar, has entered into a solar tracker supply agreement with Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA). Under the agreement, TrinaTracker will be responsible for supplying Colombia’s Tepuy Solar PV Park with smart tracking systems. This will entail  the firm’s Vanguard 1P trackers, smart algorithms and Trina Smart Cloud platforms.

POWERCHINA is an EPC firm that looks into the design, supply, construction, installation and commissioning of the solar power station,

Medellin Electric Power Company is the developer behind the Tepuy Solar PV Park, which is the largest power generation company in Colombia.

The Trackers

Designed for large solar plants on flat terrain, TrinaTracker’s Vanguard 1P trackers need lesser driving systems and controllers per megawatt, bringing down material costs and offering savings on labour hours during the installation of the project, says the firm.

At the same time, the smart tracking system by TrinaTracker comes integrated with the tracker structure + algorithm + platform, along with a tracker control unit, SuperTrack, and Trina Smart Cloud monitoring platform. The system promises greater power generation over conventional solar tracking systems while also providing better monitoring trackers functions while the system operates. The O&M costs are also lesser.

Tracker Market in Latin America

Latin America has emerged as a significant one for solar trackers. Colombia offers huge scope for the development of solar power generation.

The market in Latin America will benefit from The Tepuy Project by bringing in smart solar tracking technology complemented by delivery and operation and maintenance services.

Recently, TrinaTracker, signed an 875MW solar tracker supply contract with Samsung C&T (SSCT), for Qatar’s largest solar plant — the industrial cities solar power project (IC Solar). The contract is for the supply of two solar photovoltaic plants,417MW in Mesaieed Industrial City, and 458MW Ras Laffan Industrial City.
