Trina Solar’s Cumulative 210 mm TOPCON Shipments Exceed 65 GW By Q1 2023 Trina Solar's Module Shipments Total 140 GW, 210mm Module Shipments Exceed 65 GW by Q1 '23

Chinese solar major Trina Solar claims to have set a record of supplying more than 140 GW of solar modules since it began operations 25 years ago, gaining a presence across 150 countries in 2022. In 2022, module shipments totaled 43.09GW, placing the firm comfortably at the top tier of global solar module firms. The firm has a presence in three major business segments, PV products, PV systems, and smart energy.

In Q1 of 2023, the firm claims that in 210 mm cell size modules, it crossed a cumulative figure of 65 GW modules globally, making it the no 1 worldwide in 210 mm modules. Trina had a superb 2022, with annual revenues of $12.645 billion exceeding 2021 figures by over 83%. Q1 financial numbers are expected to be announced soon.

The modules being sold are mostly its  600W+ Vertex modules across the 210mm product technology. These modules used the – TOPCon cell technology with an n-Type ecosystem. Trina Solar’s 210 mm n-type cells came into mass production last year, with n-type i-TOPCon ingots, cells, and modules, that were mass produced. This year, the company hopes to achieve the target of 75GW cell capacity, and overall module capacity of 95 GW, which includes 40 GW of N-type cells.

Trina Solar got 173 new patents in 2021, taking the total patents with it to 1,159 patents by 2022 end. Trina Solar’s Vertex modules have received LCA certification and a Carbon Footprint Certificate in 2022. In this April Ti Group awarded Trina Solar’s factory in Yiwu, Zhejiang province, a Zero Carbon Factory certificate, the first such certificate to be awarded to a photovoltaic company.

Trina Solar has announced plans to invest around CNY8.7 billion (USD1.2 billion) to hike its capacity to make monocrystalline bars by building a new plant and support facilities in China’s southwestern Sichuan province.
