Trina Becomes 1st Solar Manufacturer to be listed on China’s Nasdaq; Issues First A-Shares

Trina Solar Co Ltd, a leading provider of integrated photovoltaic (PV) modules and smart energy solutions, has become the first Chinese solar products manufacturer to trade on the Shanghai Stock Exchange Science and Technology Innovation Board (or Shanghai Sci-Tech Innovation Board).

Shanghai Stock Exchange’s Sci-Tech Innovation Board has also been dubbed as the Nasdaq of China or the STAR Market.

At the listing ceremony, Gao Jifan, Chairman and General Manager of Trina Solar, said that “global warming and environmental pollution are growing problems, making energy transformation an extremely urgent issue. This will significantly impact our ability to leave a beautiful living environment to future generations, to find a balance among environmental, economic, and social benefits, and to achieve development that is comprehensive, balanced and sustainable.”

Jifan further said “inspired by the implementation of the Kyoto Protocol and the Million Solar Roofs Initiative of the United States, I founded Trina Solar in 1997. For more than 20 years we have made great strides in the PV industry by focusing on innovation, branding, globalization and digitalization. This has enabled us to gradually become the world’s leading provider of PV and smart energy total solutions.”

The company’s innovative development has enabled Trina Solar to capitalize on the rich opportunities that the PV industry offers. Trina has established 3 major business segments i.e. PV products, PV systems and smart energy segments.

In another significant development recently, the company has been recognized as a Top Performer module maker for the sixth time in a row in the PVEL’s 6th edition of its 2020 PV module reliability scorecard, published in partnership with DNV GL.

PV Evolution Labs (PVEL) is a leading independent test laboratory for the global downstream solar industry, while DNV GL is the world’s leading resource of independent experts and certification body.

Trina Solar said that it has been recognized for its outstanding product reliability and performance among global photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturers. It is one of only 2 PV module makers with worldwide reach to gain the recognition for the sixth consecutive time since the report was published.

Besides, the company had also won a contract from Noida-headquartered SunSource Energy to supply 105 MW of its new Vertex modules. This is the first 100 MW plus contract in India for its Vertex bifacial modules, and it is likely to start the module shipment during the fourth quarter of 2020.
