TPREL & Tata Motors Join Hands for 12 MW Solar Project

Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd Inks PDA for 13.2 MW Group Captive Solar Plant 

Tata Power and Tata Motors Limited and Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) have joined hands via a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the development of a new 12 MWp on-site solar project. The plant will be established at the commercial vehicle manufacturing facility of Tata Motors Limited in Pune.

It is estimated that the solar plant will generate 17.5 million units electricity every year, which will help meet 17.2 per cent of the unit’s electricity demand every year. Carbon emissions of over 12,400 tonnes per year will also be curbed with the project that is slated for commissioning within a period of six months.

The said installation entails rooftop solar and, when considered together with the current capacity of 8.73 MWp, will augment the cumulative solar capacity at the Pune facility to 20.73 MWp.

Earlier, TPREL signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for 9 MWp on campus solar plant with Tata Motors’ Pantnagar plant in Uttarakhand. This solar plant will be the largest on campus solar facility in the State.

Tata Power, along with its subsidiaries, is developing round the clock renewable power solutions to support the RE100 agenda of large enterprises and to support the clean energy transition of the country.
