Total Solar Distributed Generation, an arm of energy giant Total, has added six new distributed solar projects having capacity of 10 MWp in Southeast (SE) Asia region.
Through this move, the energy giant has continued its strategy of expansion of footprints in the distributed solar sector by adding 10 MWp to its renewables portfolio in the region.
Further, these distributed solar energy projects are located in Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia and Singapore.
Commenting on the development, Julien Pouget, Senior Vice President, Renewables at Total, said “Total Solar Distributed Generation is today a major international provider of fully integrated solar solutions for commercial and industrial customers in Southeast Asia.”
Pouget further added “we are committed to helping our customers and partners drive down both their energy costs and carbon footprint, and we are proud to be considered a reliable partner in the region.”
Besides SE Asia, the company through its distributed solar subsidiary had entered into a binding contract for 7 MWp single solar rooftop project with S. Kijchai, which is one of the leading manufacturers of wood-based panels in Thailand.
This solar system used more than 17,500 solar panels and will generate 9.6 GWh of electricity from renewable sources per year. It will also help in reducing 4,910 tons of CO2 emissions p.a.
In another significant development, the company has completed 3 solar rooftop projects of 1.2 MWp for Gaisano Capital Malls in Philippines. These projects will generate around 1.6 GWh of solar energy every year, and will fulfill 30 percent of Gaisano’s power needs. It will also reduce its carbon footprints by more than 870 tons of CO2 p.a.
In Indonesia also, Total Solar Distributed Generation has completed one of the first solar rooftop projects of 800 kWp capacity for Chandra Asri Petrochemical, which is the largest publicly listed petrochemical company in Indonesia, with no upfront investment by the customer.
Meanwhile in Singapore, Total, via its distributed solar energy generation arm, has completed 500 kWp rooftop solar project for Carros Centre. This project is expected to generate 570 MWh of renewable energy a year. It will also cover approx 22 percent of the company’s electricity needs and reduce more than 225 tons of CO2 emissions every year.
