I-SMART is a GIZ and MNRE backed initiative to help residents, businesses, and governments take advantage of the rooftop solar.

As per the tender details, I-SMART is intended to partner with a select group of qualified vendors to deliver rooftop solar to its commercial and industrial (C&I) customers across Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

The last date and time for submitting the application is March 10, 2020, on or before 17:00 hours.

For the eligibility criterion, the vendors must have installed rooftop solar PV system of more than 50 kW of capacity to meet the demands of C&I sector, along with their reputation among customers and other key industry stakeholders for quality and customer experience.

In each region, I-SMART has an aggregate demand of 10 to 20 MW of rooftop solar as on December 31, 2019, and the estimated demand aggregated is over 100 MW in all the regions altogether, as further stated in the document.

Moreover, the I-SMART team will work closely with selected installers by conducting targeted outreach to the C&I sectors, pre-screening prospective C&I solar customers, and distributing leads aggregated through the I-SMART program to the qualified installer pool.

The I-SMART team of professionals and volunteers help consumers in realising the benefits of rooftop solar by easing the process of going solar.

Meanwhile, the team is spreading awareness about how rooftop solar can significantly lower the electricity expenses for residences and businesses and can provide other benefits such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting the achievement of sustainability goals and RPO requirements.
