Renewable energy player Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has entered into a Power Delivery Agreement (PDA) with Dr. Abhay Firodia Group of Companies – Force Motors Limited and Jaya Hind Industries Private Limited, for supplying green power for 25 years under the Group Captive Solar scheme.

Under the agreement, Force Motors Limited, a fully vertically integrated automobile company, will be utilising 6.2 MW AC power and consuming 13.64 Million Units (MUs) power annually. While the other group company, Jaya Hind Industries Private Limited will be utilising 7.0 MW AC power, consuming 15.40 MUs annually.

Located in Achegaon, Maharashtra, this group captive solar plant has a capacity of 13.2 MW AC, generating 29.04 MUs power annually and will reduce carbon emissions by 21,200 metric tons per year approximately. The project is scheduled to be completed within 12 months from the signing of PDA.

TPREL will oversee the development, management, and maintenance of the group captive solar plant facility.

With this addition, the total renewables capacity of TPREL reached 8,327 MW (PPA capacity is 7,338 MW), which comprises 4,107 MW of projects in different phases of development and an operating capacity of 4,220 MW, including 3,201 MW in solar projects and 1,019 MW in wind projects.

Presently, the firm’s solar EPC portfolio is more than 11.5 GWp of ground-mount utility-scale, over 1.8 GW of rooftop and distributed ground-mounted systems, and over 1,00,000 solar water pumps.

Captive Solar Projects in Maharashtra

Maharashtra has emerged as favourable destination for captive solar projects and TPREL has a strong portfolio of captive projects in the state, especially in the Achegaon region. This includes a 12.MW solar project with Endurance Technologies Limited. TPREL and Endurance Technologies Limited have already forged a partnership before for a 12.5 MW captive solar power plant in Akkalkot, Maharashtra.

TPREL is setting up another group captive solar plant of 3.125 MW capacity, also in Achegaon, for Xpro India Limited.

TPREL announced earlier in November that it had crossed the 1.4 GW capacity of group captive projects in the last seven months. This achievement, the firm maintains, is the result of signing of Power Delivery Agreements (PDA) with various industries across segments.
