The renewable energy arm of Tata Power, Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL), will be establishing a 255 MW capacity hybrid (wind and solar) power project in Karnataka.

The project will be commissioned within 24 months from the PPA execution date. The project was won by TPREL after Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd (which is a JV between Tata Power and the Government of NCT of Delhi), awarded a Letter of Award by way of e-reverse auction. The said project is to be commissioned within two years from the date of the execution of the PPA. As per the letter, the project will look at capacity of 85 MW of solar and 170 MW of wind power and will have a greenshoe option for another 85 MW and 170 MW of solar and wind energy respectively. Tata Power- DDL will be supplied with the power that is generated from the project. The firm currently is a supplier of electricity to over 7 million in North Delhi. With the addition of this wind-solar project to its portfolio, the cumulative capacity for renewables for TPREL will stand at 6,048 MW. The total installed capacity will be 3,884 MW, with 2,956 MW of solar and 920 MW of wind. The firm has 2,164 MW that is under operation.

This year, Tata Power-DDL achieved 100% RPO compliance for the second year in succession. To meet its Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) for the financial years 2021–2022, the firm purchased 2200 million units (MUs) of green power from renewable sources, such as solar, wind, hydro, waste to energy, and large hydro sources.

In July 2022, TP Saurya, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power, received the ‘Letter of Award’ (LoA) from Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for setting up a 600 MW hybrid (wind and solar) power project in Karnataka, awarded through e-Reverse auction.
