Sunsure Energy, C&I-focused independent renewable energy power producers, inducts Manoj Kohli and Mahesh Makhija to its Board of Directors, stated a press release by Sunsure Energy.

The recent appointments of Kohli and Makhija represent a strategic enhancement to the company’s Board of Directors. With Manoj Kohli’s extensive experience spanning 45 years in diverse global markets, and Mahesh Makhija’s over two decades of expertise in the renewable energy sector, they will collectively enrich the company with their knowledge and strategic insight. Alongside Inderpreet Wadhwa (Founder & CEO – Azure Power), a distinguished renewable energy industry stalwart who joined the Board in December 2022, they will play a crucial role as Sunsure continues to grow in the renewable energy sector in India, stated a press release from the company.

Before this stint, Manoj Kohli has served as the Country Head of SoftBank India till January 2023, overseeing a $15 billion investment in 25 tech-focused portfolio companies. Prior to this, he was the Managing Director and CEO of Bharti Airtel, leading its transformation into the third-largest global telco with a unique business model and extensive operations. Kohli’s leadership also extended to SB Energy, achieving over 5GW of renewable energy capacity. Recognized for his contributions, he received awards such as “Telecom Man of the Year”.

On the other hand, Mahesh Makhija brings over two decades of experience in the Renewable Energy sector to Sunsure Energy’s Board of Directors. His extensive background includes key roles at Apraava Energy (formerly known as CLP India) and a successful tenure in the consulting industry with Arthur Andersen, where he advised clients across various sectors, including pharmaceutical, chemical, shipping, and media.

In other news, Sunsure Energy has pledged an investment of Rs 3,150 crore in renewable energy projects in Tamil Nadu in the next three years. As part of the memorandum of understanding with the state government, it will set up four renewable energy projects with a combined capacity of 500 Megawatt (MW).
