Sterlite Power Commissions ₹1662 cr Transmission Project in MP Sterlite Power Wins 8 GW Green Energy Transmission Project in Rajasthan

Sterlite Power Transmission Limited has announced the successful commissioning of the Khargone Transmission Limited (KTL) project worth INR 1,662 crore in Madhya Pradesh. The company is a private sector power transmission infrastructure developer and solutions provider.

The project will evacuate 1320 MW of power generated by the Khargone power plant to 765 kV Khandwa substation to further distribute it downstream across Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Goa, Daman & Diu, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, said the company in an official statement. With the completion of the 765 kV D/C Khandwa-Dhule transmission line, all the elements in the project are complete and charged, it added.

Commenting on the recent development, Pratik Agarwal, Managing Director, Sterlite Power, said, “We are delighted to achieve the successful commissioning of KTL project which aims at solving the critical challenge of energy delivery for the western and central region.”

In April 2020, the company had already commissioned 5 out of 6 elements in the project which included the 765kV substation at Khandwa, 400kV D/C Khandwa–Khargone transmission line, 765kV DC Khandwa-Indore transmission line, 400kV LILO and Dhule bay extension. The company had won KTL through tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB).

Sterlite Power Transmission Ltd operates projects covering approximately 13,700 circuit kms of transmission lines across India and Brazil. The company has a portfolio of high-performance power conductors, EHV cables and OPGW. The company provides bespoke solutions for the upgrade, uprate and fiberzation of existing transmission infrastructure projects.

Last month, the New Delhi-based company announced the acquisition of Nangalbibra ─ Bongaigaon Transmission Limited, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), from PFC Consulting Limited. Through this SPV, the company will execute the inter-state transmission system (ISTS) project that it won through tariff-based competitive bidding in October 2021.

Notably, Sterlite Power is the sponsor of IndiGrid, India’s first power sector Infrastructure Investment Trust, listed on the BSE and NSE.
