The installations has been calculated to more than 4.7 MW of capacity; with Fort Carson is the larger of the projects adding 3 MW of capacity, and the Fort Detrick installations are at 1.7 MW. The installations are the part of SolarCity’s SolarStrong project.

The power generated through the plants will be bought at a discount to local utility rates by the military housing project companies that are jointly owned by the Army and Balfour Beatty Communities.
