Solar Trailblazers: Surat Hosts Mega Solar Industry Event  Saur Energy organises Solar Trailblazers in Surat

The textile city of Surat in Gujarat recently hosted one of the biggest industry conglomeration events in the city–Solar Trailblazers. The event recognized several ‘Make-In-Gujarat’ solar industry players who have thrived and expanded across the country with their cleantech products, ranging from solar modules and energy storage devices to installations of renewable energy systems.

The event was organized by Saur Energy, India’s leading renewable energy news media organization, in association with several industry partners like Gautam Solar, Navitas, Cosmic PV, Deye and others. The company decided to choose Surat as the host for the event due to the presence of several solar module manufacturers, EPC players, and solar startups who have contributed to the growth of the solar sector across the country. 

Several industry leaders from different companies participated in the event. The day-long event witnessed several panel discussions on different issues like challenges to the growth of the solar sector in the country, the role of discoms, the role of foreign countries, and import dependency policies, among others. 


Prasanna Singh, Group Editor of Saur Energy, said that Surat emerged as a key region for several entrepreneurs in the solar sector and thus, based on the presence of several key solar industry players in the region, the first edition of Solar Trailblazers was held in Surat. 

“The rise of solar power and its mega-production in India are not reported from the country’s bigger cities. Rather, it comes from smaller cities in India like Surat and others. Surat and Gujarat have taken a stride towards India’s journey on Energy Transition,” he said. He also hoped that the city and the solar industry in the city and region would also take steps towards creating more innovative productions and solutions like solar waste recycling and processing.  

The event also saw special workshops and technical sessions. Saur Energy, meanwhile, also awarded Greenlab Diamonds and Muni Seva Ashram with Solar Trailblazer awards for roping in green energy in their operations to mitigate climate change and reduce emissions. The session started with the welcome address of Prasanna Singh, Group Editor of Saur Energy (Green Pursuits Pvt Limited). Rakesh Trivedi, Founder and Mentor of the South Gujarat Solar Association (SGCA), also presented his keynote speech during the event. 

The first session witnessed a special session on the challenges in solar growth in India. It saw participation from Ravi Kumar (Vice President, Oorjan Cleantech), Vineet Mittal (Director, Navitas Solar), and Piyush Variya (Co-founder, Sunora Solar PV). Saur Energy Group Editor Prasanna Singh moderated the session. 

The second session was on the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) sector and the role of solar energy. The speakers who participated in the special session included-Mehul Patel (CMD, Trishla Electrical Solutions), Jenish Ghael (Director, Cosmic PV Power), Udit Kumar (Sales Head, Solarlabs) and Setul Shah (Founder, MECPower Solutions). 

Nevertheless, Khusbhoo Sharma, Founder of Zero Gravity Communications, held a special session on digital marketing for the solar industry, while Bharat Singh from Deye Inverter held a technical session for the audience. On the other hand, Pulkit Dhingra also held a special session to deliberate on the success story of the online system for rooftop solar applications.  

The industry event also witnessed a session on customer questions moderated by Saur Energy Associate Editor Manish Kumar. Pulkit Dhinga (Founder, AhaSolar Technologies), Bharat Singh (Head-Sales and Marketing, Deye), and Sonal Biyani (Startup Consultant from Basic Roots) took part in the event. Saur Energy Director Prateek Kapoor and Sales Head of the company Girish Mishra gave away the awards to the winners and speakers during the event.
