Solar Inverter Firm GoodWe Signs Deal for 50 MW RE Project in Pakistan

Chinese firms are showing a fresh deal of commitment for the development of renewable energy projects as the South Asian country is facing its economic hardships and acute power generation challenges.

According to reports, GoodWe, which claims to be leading smart energy solution providers based out of China, is bullish about boosting renewable energy in PakistanGoodWe has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with two other companies – Maxgreen and Solcraft – to set up a 50 MW renewable energy plant in Pakistan. GoodWe specializes in PV inverter and energy storage systems.

The location and project related specifics are yet to be known. GoodWe has also not disclosed the financial details of the project.

GoodWe said in a statement about the pact, “We are looking forward to this cooperation. It will add significantly to Pakistan’s fast-growing renewable capacity and will further contribute to green energy development and industrial clean electricity demand, as well as enhancing eco-friendly residential living.”

Maxgreen and Solcraft are Pakistan-based firms whose head offices are located in Karachi. The two firms deal with solar power to provide clean and green electricity to Pakistan that’s already struggling to make any mark as far as RE is concerned.

GoodWe said that it is undertaking various green energy related initiatives in Pakistan while adding that it recently donated the SDT G2 10kW Inverter to the Energy Training and Research Center (ETRC) which is a solar power training facility. The objective of the firm is to enable the solar power installation related manpower in Pakistan to learn and adept with the latest solar technologies.

Earlier this year, GoodWe signed a 100 MW distribution deal with TradeCorp for PV inverter and energy storage systems.

Pakistan wants to increase its renewable energy share to 60 per cent by 2030. In August, the government kicked off 9,000 MW worth projects under ‘Solar Energy Initiatives’ keeping in view the constant hikes in electricity prices due to the swelling fuel costs.

Oracle Power revealed recently that it will be developing a 400 MW green hydrogen project in Sindh province.
