SJVN Issues 250 MW/500 MWh BESS Tender At 1.36 GW Panipat Thermal Power Station
SJVN has recently issued a tender for a 250 MW/500 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Haryana. The total project capacity of 250 MW/500 MWh would be located in the vicinity of the 220 kV substation of the STU network, under Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (HVPNL). The project would be placed at the 1,360 MW Panipat Thermal Power Station (PTPS) premises in Haryana. It has sought bids for the tender until January 6, 2026.
Haryana is expanding its BESS project saw its first BESS tender in August this year, issued by DHBVNL to develop a 2.5 MW/5 MWh project with 33 kV substations under the Viability Gap Funding (VGF) Support Scheme.
Scope of Work
Under the latest round of tendering, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (UHBVNL), through SJVN as the implementing agency, would receive support under Viability Gap Funding (VGF). The project is backed by the Power System Development Fund (PSDF) for the entire 12-year project tenure, and the bidder is to provide the storage facility to UHBVNL for that duration.
The BESS developer would be responsible for land identification and allocation for the project will be under the scope of UHBVNL on a lease/right-to-use basis. The bidder is expected to offer a project capacity or contracted capacity of 250 MW for 2 Hours Maximum Power Output (AC) from the Battery Energy Storage Project. This project is scheduled at the Delivery Point/interconnection point at any time block of the day.
