SJVN recently awarded a tender for its 250 MW/500 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Panipat, Haryana, at a tariff of Rs 1.97 lakh/MW/month. The tender was awarded to Hardi Hydro Energy Private Limited, two months after SJVN issued it in December 2025.
The latest tender brought down the BESS tariff from previous peaks, as seen in GUVNL’s 335 MW/670 MWh 2-hour cycle BESS tender under the VGF scheme, which had tariffs ranging from Rs 2.10 lakh/MW/month to Rs 2.12 lakh/MW/month. The winning companies of that earlier tender were Advait Energy Transitions Limited, Equentia Natural Resources Pte Ltd, and KPI subsidiary Sundrops Energia. This marked an uptick in tariff levels compared with GUVNL’s previous BESS tender, which had been awarded at Rs 1.85–1.88 lakh/MW/month.
Now, SJVN has reduced tariffs again with its BESS tender in Haryana for the 250 MW/500 MWh project, which will be located near the 220 kV substation of the STU network under Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (HVPNL). The project is planned at the 1,360 MW Panipat Thermal Power Station (PTPS) premises in Haryana.
Hardi Hydro Energy Private Limited outbid 10 companies for this project, including Vedu Infrastructure Private Limited, PNC Infratech, KPI Subsidy, Sundrop Energia, Enviro Infra, Dilip Builcon, NTPC Green, Apaarva Energy, Patel Greentech, Mohit Minerals, and DB Power BESS Storage.
About the Tender
The BESS developer will be responsible for land identification, while land allocation for the project will be handled by UHBVNL on a lease/right-to-use basis. The bidder is expected to offer a project capacity of 250 MW for 2 hours of Power Output (AC) from the Battery Energy Storage Project. This project is scheduled to supply at the Delivery Point/interconnection point at any time block of the day.
SJVN issued this BESS tender in Haryana to develop the project near the 220 kV substation of the STU network, under HVPNL. The project will be situated at the 1,360 MW Panipat Thermal Power Station (PTPS) premises in Haryana.
