Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has secured its first full-scope contract for the service of turbines supplied by other Original Equipment Manufacturers (oOEM) in Poland with Polenergia.

Starting in April 2019, SGRE will provide service and maintenance for the 34MW Lukaszow and 24MW Modlikowice wind farms in western Poland. The contract includes full-scope service including availability and component warranty for 29 Vestas V90 wind turbines.

The two wind farms have been under service by another company for the last seven years. The new contract with Siemens Gamesa will cover the operations and maintenance for the next 23 years, guaranteeing 30 years of lifetime for the turbines and underlining the confidence in SGRE’s multi-brand service offering.

“This contract showcases our strong competitive situation in the service and maintenance of wind turbines across all types and technologies,” says Grant Walker, regional CEO of Service Northern Europe and the Middle East at Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy. “We are expanding our multi-brand services globally, and this contract in Poland with Polenergia is our first major milestone in Northern Europe.”

The wind solutions provider offers a broad product and service portfolio, addressing the diverse needs of customers worldwide. The company is committed to providing the best solutions to lower the cost of energy whilst maximising projects’ profitability. In total, Siemens Gamesa has more than 37 years of experience and a fleet availability of over 98%. The company’s experts currently maintain more than 900 different turbines from other manufacturers with a total capacity of more than 1 GW worldwide.

In March, the firm commissioned a 10 MW solar power project for Lakshmi Machine Works (LMW) in Tamil Nadu.

As part of the contract, Siemens Gamesa provided an EPC (engineering procurement and construction) solution that included engineering and design of the solar farm, procurement, erection and commissioning of the 10 MW photovoltaic (PV) solar farm near Coimbatore.
