Shree Cement has achieved a key milestone in its decarbonisation efforts, with over 60 percent of its total electricity consumption now coming from renewable sources. The development was marked by the commissioning of a 60.3 MW solar power plant in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, adding to its total green energy capacity of 582 MW.

The company’s growing renewable portfolio includes solar, wind, and waste heat recovery systems deployed across various manufacturing locations. Shree Cement is among a group of Indian cement producers that are steadily increasing their reliance on clean energy as the sector looks to align with national and global climate goals.

MM Rathi, Joint President – Power Management, said: “We are building a future-ready enterprise rooted in sustainability, innovation and performance. Our transition to green power is not just a business imperative, it is a long-term commitment to a cleaner, more responsible future. Through this journey, we aim to set new benchmarks for the entire cement industry.”

Data-driven energy system

The company has introduced data-driven energy management systems and integrated renewable power across its production and logistics processes to reduce its carbon footprint and fossil fuel dependency.

According to company statements, the push toward renewables also aims to enhance energy security and operational stability amid fluctuating fossil fuel markets.

Shree Cement has received a CareEdge ESG 1 rating and was named an “Industry Mover” in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2025, based on its performance in environment, social, and governance (ESG) metrics.
