A wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB). The PPA will pave the path for SGEL to develop an 18 MW solar project for BBMB.

The project is scheduled for commissioning in August next year. In the first year of operation, the project will generate 39.42 million units (MU) of energy of close to 917 MU. This is over a period of 25 years. The project will be developed on the land parcels of BBMB in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. The commissioning of the project is said to reduce 44,923 tonnes of carbon emissions.

The project has been bagged by SJVN Green Energy by way of open competitive bidding at a tariff of INR 2.63 in the e-reverse auction held by Punjab Energy Development Agency.

SJVN has set its sights on installing more than 10,000 MW renewable energy capacity in a period of three years while progressing towards its shared vision of becoming a firm of 25,000 MW by 2030 and 50000 MW by 2040.

Earlier, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) received Letter of Awards from Assam Power Development Corporation Limited (APDCL) for three solar power projects of cumulative capacity 320 MW. SGEL had participated in three separate tariff based competitive bidding tenders of APDCL, that is, 50 MW, 70 MW and 200 MW.
