The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has entered into an agreement with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL). The BESSA (Battery Energy Storage Supply Agreement) signed between the two firms is for 150 MW/300 MWh. The agreement was signed at Vadodara.

SECI has been frequently been issuing tenders for solar projects that entail BESS (Battery Energy Storage System). In June, SECI issued a tender for consulting services for the selection of consultancy firms for owners engineer services for 100 MW SPV project along with 40 MW/ 120 MWh. In February, it had issued a tender for the construction of a 2 MWh solar project and a 1 MW Battery Energy Storage System in Kaza, Himachal Pradesh.

Recently, GUVNL invited bids for the purchase of power through competitive bidding process for 800 MW solar projects with greenshoe option,

As of March 31, 2023, the total capacity of GUNVL stands at over 19 GW of renewable energy. It has installed wind capacity worth 10.41 GW and installed capacity of solar worth 9.68 GW. The solar rooftop capacity is 2.68 GW. Some of its recent solar and renewable energy projects include Khavda Solar Park, Dholera Solar Park, Harshad Solar Project, Raghanesda Solar Park. For the Dholera Solar Park, 300 MW Capacity is commissioned and the process for 700 MW capacity is underway. The 700 MW Raghanesda Solar Park in Banaskantha District is under development wherein 600 MW capacity has been commissioned and the remaining 100 MW is in advance stage of development.
