PM Modi Envisages Gujarat as World’s Biggest Green Hydrogen Destination

Gujarat is poised to become the world’s biggest green hydrogen hub. Headed towards this goal, the State will ring in investments worth Rs 8-10 lakh crore globally. These investments will be made towards the development of green hydrogen and its ecosystem. These announcements were made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a rally in Bhavnagar.

Further, the Indian Prime Minister added that the world order for energy will undergo a significant transformation that will be drastic in nature. He was speaking about the incorporation of green hydrogen in the energy portfolio.

“Just look at the scale of my dreams. The world’s biggest green hydrogen hub will come up along the coast of Gujarat. Green hydrogen will be produced in a big way. The entire ecosystem of green hydrogen will be developed here,” said the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister said that in the future, vehicles will operate on green hydrogen, thus the future clearly belongs to it. He also said that the leaders would be those who would lead in green hydrogen. He pointed that several policies have been formulated in the state for the advancement of Green Hydrogen. Modi states that the Indian State can anticipate investment worth Rs 8 to to lakh crore. In the wake of this investment, one can also expect lakhs of new employment opportunities.

Gujarat’s MoU on semiconductors

In the coming times, the coastal regions of Kutch, encompassing Saurashtra including Bhavnagar, will usher massive investment inflows from around the world, thanks to the green hydrogen revolution. Shedding light on green hydrogen ambitions, PM Modi said that Vedanta and Foxconn’s proposed semiconductor manufacturing facility in the State will be set up in Dholera.

“Some people have monopoly to manufacture semiconductors. India has taken an initiative and Gujarat will see the activities on semiconductors manufacturing. This will happen in Dholera. The entire ecosystem will come up,” the PM said while sharing that the Gujarat government has entered into an MoU with various firms for the establishment of the project. This initiative will bring in investments worth ₹1.5 lakh crore. Additionally, it will pave the way for 2 lakh jobs while also proving beneficial for smalltime businessmen, vendors and suppliers from the region.
