Panasonic launches two high-performance photovoltaic HIT modules

Panasonic has launched two high-efficiency solar photovoltaic HIT modules — including high-efficiency 96 cell panels.

The photovoltaic modules from house of Panasonic HIT N330 and N325 achieves up to 36% higher yield per square foot, and help lower the installation and balance of system costs per KW over conventional panels.

The panels use a hetero-junction cell structure made of mono-crystalline and amorphous silicon layers. This design enables them to achieve energy efficiency with the same dimensions as traditional solar panels. The solar panels employ 96 cells compared to conventional 60-cell panels.

The N330 and N325 boast 4.95 kWp and 4.88 kWp capacities respectively on 20 ft x 20 ft (400 ft2) rooftop with 15 modules, while a conventional 60-cell 260 W panel with the same setup achieves only 3.9 kWp capacities on the same dimension roof.

The pyramid cell structure enables this efficiency, absorbing more sunlight to generate power and provide higher efficiency than rougher, more reflective conventional crystalline structures. The water drainage frame removes water from the panel surface, even in low angle installations, avoiding accumulation or water stains after drying which can reduce power output and harm efficiency.

The company has manufactured N330 and N325 solar panels using state-of-the-art techniques to perform at high temperatures with minimal degradation on quality or efficiency.

The high-performance photovoltaic HIT modules will be available in in North American market soon with extended product warranties. As of now there is no word on availability of the modules for the Indian market.

Speaking on the occasion Dan Silver, president, Panasonic Eco Solutions Company North America said “North America is one of the fastest growing markets for renewable energy in the world and solar is expected to drive a significant percentage of that growth over the next several years,” he further added “Panasonic’s commitment to residential solar in North America has never been stronger. By offering our customers an affordable way to reduce their energy bills and their carbon footprint with one of the most efficient, highest-performing solar solutions on the market, we’re perfectly positioned to meet this growing demand.”
