OX2, a firm that delves into the development of renewable energy solutions at scale and develops onshore wind power in Europe, has informed about the acquisition of the project rights of a solar power project in Huittinen, Finland. The firm has  acquired the project from solar power developer SAJM Holding Oy.

The capacity under development is to be 475 MW. This makes it among the largest solar farms in Finland. The solar farm, which is in the development stage at present, will boast of yearly energy production of roughly 475 GWh. This generation will help power the yearly electricity usage of close to 95,000 households.

Saku-Matti Mäki, Head of Solar Power, OX2 Finland and the Baltics said of the project, “The Huittinen project is an excellent addition to our solar project development portfolio, and the project shows that Finland is very well positioned to become a forerunner in large-scale solar power in Northern Europe. Solar power has potential to make a considerable contribution to the emissions-free electricity in Finland.”

Other than the said Huittinen project, OX2’s project portfolio in Finland is inclusive of two solar power projects in Kauhajoki and Loimaa. OX2 has been looking at the development of solar power since 2018. At the end of 2022, the firm boasted of a cumulative 4 GW of solar power in the project development portfolio.

Earlier, energy solutions conglomerate Suvic Oy announced that it had signed an EPC contract with CPC Finland Oy for the construction of Lakari Solar Park in Finland. The yearly electricity production from it is estimated to be about 32,000 MWh from the solar plant.
