Oriano Clean Energy to Develop 40MWp Solar Power Projects for Shree Cement

Mumbai based clean tech company Oriano Clean Energy Private Limited has announced that it has secured an order from Rajasthan based Shree Cement Limited (SCL) to develop about 40 MWp of solar power projects under Captive Open Access Mechanism.

The contract is specifically for the building of solar PV projects of 30 MWp (2 x 15) in Bihar and 10.30 MWp in Jharkhand. The sites of projects will be located in Banka district of Bihar and Seraikela Kharsawan district of Jharkhand. Oriano Clean Energy says that the scope of work will include design, engineering, supply of balance of plant equipment, erection, commissioning, testing and PGT that will also comprise civil construction work.

The official statement says that with the addition of these two projects, the portfolio of Oriano Clean Energy now stands at more than 750 MWp. Out of this more than 400 MWp stands commissioned and the remaining are being developed by it.

“We are pleased to announce the new winner of this esteemed solar EPC contract from SCL. We are committed to the best in Industry Quality, HSE, Engineering & Business Practices, and delivering high-performing Assets and Asset Management. Oriano is one of the largest players in C&I Open Access Segment in the country,” says Lokendra Singh, Co-founder & Director, Oriano Clean Energy.

Oriano says that the new orders from Shree Cement have amplified its position to become the foremost clean-tech company in India. Oriano is active in more than 12 states of the country and is also developing large scale projects in the states of Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Maharashtra. Oriano wants to realize the milestone of 1GW of solar power projects this year only.

Shree Cements is generating a total of more than 762 MW and the green power generation stands at 211 MW. In this, the total solar and wind power production is about 44 MW.

Interestingly, for states like Bihar, Jharkhand and even Chattisgarh, such corporate solar initiatives seem to offer a way out of their abysmal record so far in creating renewable capacity.
