Oriana Power, a Noida-based solar energy company, has now announced the commissioning of its 1 Megawatt (MW) floating solar power project in the Udaipur district of Rajasthan. The renewable energy company planned this project in a water body on the premises of Dabok Mines in the district.

The company said that it commissioned the project for the captive energy needs of Udaipur Cement Works Limited (UCWL), a subsidiary of JK lakshmi Cement. The plant will generate around 1.7 million units of solar energy annually. The firm claimed Rajasthan got its first-ever floating solar power plant with this new solar project. It noted that this floating solar plant could help reduce carbon footprint by 1,000 tonnes per year, besides an additional financial saving of Rs 35 crore in the next 25 years.

“This groundbreaking achievement marks a significant milestone in the country’s transition towards cleaner and more sustainable energy sources. With initiatives like this, Oriana Power is leading the charge towards a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for India and the world,” the solar company said in a statement.

As per details, the water body in Udaipur is spread over an area of 7,200 square meters. The project was established in the last four years. According to the company, the new project might give employment to around 500 people.

This floating solar project of Oriana is one of the few projects it has done in the state in the renewable energy sector. Earlier, it provided solar energy solutions to companies like JP Laxmi Cements Limited, Hindustan Copper Limited, Khetri, and Hindustan Salt Limited.
