Okaya has completed installation of its first super charger for Water Boat in Kochi Water Metro project. Okaya has commissioned 150KW CCS2 for the project, which is its first Water Boat project in India and second in the world.

Okaya Power Group, which is one of the largest manufacturers and suppliers of EV Charging stations, lithium-ion batteries and lead acid batteries in India, has already deployed more than 800 EV charging stations in last six months and 250 MWh BESS solution across the country.

Anshul Gupta, Director of Okaya Power Private Ltd said, “We are delighted to commission this Kochi Water Metro Project. We have successfully manufactured, installed and commissioned the first super EV chargers in India for lithium battery powered water boats and we will be looking forward to receive various such types of orders very soon.”

Okaya Power Pvt. Ltd had bagged a contract from Kochi Metro Rail Ltd. for design, build, supply, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning of two (EVSE) Boat chargers and one Transformer at Vytilla Terminal for Kochi Water Metro Project. The project was awarded for a value of INR 47.50 Lakh.

Okaya stated that its lithium-ion batteries and EV chargers have all the safety features to protect the battery and the vehicle. Okaya’s release stated that all these efforts of Okaya are intended towards contributing its bit in making “Atma Nirbhar Bharat” mission a success.

Super chargers remain relatively rare in India for now, owing to cost and infrastructural issues. As technologies converge around common standards and improved infra, expect to see many more super charger stations come up.
