NTPC REL Wins RUMSL’s 80 MW Floating Solar Project NLC Joins Hands with Rajasthan for 300 MW Solar Supply

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a subsidiary firm of energy conglomerate NTPC, has emerged successful in bidding for a 80 MW floating solar project at Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh. The tariff at which the firm won the tender floated by RUMSL (Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited) is an impressive INR 3.80 kWh. RUMSL is joint venture between Solar Energy Corporation of India and MP Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd.

The bidding was conducted on August 8, 2023.

The discoms in Madhya Pradesh will employ the power generated from the said project.

NTPC Group presently boasts 3.3 GW of operational capacity of renewable energy. The firm also has 20 GW under development, entailing 4 GW energy storage system. It has to its credit India’s first green hydrogen-based piped natural gas blending project. The firm has set sights on achieving 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032.
In January,  it was revealed that the development work on three floating solar power plants on water reservoirs in the state of Madhya Pradesh was set to begin. The investment into the three floating solar power projects will be INR 7,500 crore.
Earlier, Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Ltd (RUMSL) issued an RFP for allotment of pumped hydro storage sites in Madhya Pradesh.
