NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) has issued a tender inviting bids from eligible bidders on single stage two-envelope (including techno-commercial bid and price bid) basis for Balance of System package of ISTS connected wind energy project with nominal capacity of 1080 MW in Karnataka.

The scope of work entails detailed design, engineering, micro-siting, manufacturing, supply, erection, testing, commissioning and providing the guaranteed parameters for installation of the offered wind farm starting from 33kV internal evacuation lines. It also includes the acquisition of land for establishing the project.

The offered wind project by the bidder shall be compatible for installation of any WTG of size ranging from 2.7 MW to higher WTG machine size. The WTC machine must be enlisted in the RLMM. The scope of work also encompasses comprehensive operation and maintenance for a period of three years.

To qualify technically, the bidder should have executed wind projects of a cumulative capacity of 40 MW or higher, out of which at least one wind project should be of 10 MW capacity or higher. Or,

The bidder should be a developer of grid-connected wind power plants of cumulative installed capacity of 40 MW or higher, out of which at least one plant should have been of 10 MW capacity or higher at a single location. The reference plant of 20 MW or higher capacity must have been successful in operation for at least six months before the date that the techno-commercial bid opens.

Or

The bidder should have executed in the last ten years an industrial project fulfilling the following financial criteria-

Even though Karnataka has high renewable energy potential, as per a report of the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA), it has tapped just 11% of its potential.

NTPC has been issuing a series of tenders following each other. A significant one of 3000 MW capacity was also announced recently.
