NTPC Issues Tender For 1500 MW Of Wind Projects For ISTS Govt Amends Bidding Norms To Ease Early Starting Of Wind Projects

NTPC Limited has issued an international bidding tender seeking developers to set up 1500 Megawatt (MW) of Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) wind projects anywhere in India. The central public sector enterprise has asked the bidders to submit their bids by the end of October 19.

The bids will be undertaken on a single stage two, envelope mode with reverse auction to select the wind power developer. It has asked the developers to submit the bid with the earnest money deposit of Rs 13.86 lakh per MW.

As per the mandate of the tender, the developers would be selected for the project on a Build, Own and Operate (BOO) mode. NTPC said that it would not release the Request for Selection (RfS) documents for the tender. It also laid out some conditions for the submission of the bids for the project.

“Issuance of RfS Documents to any Bidder shall not construe that such Bidder is considered to be qualified. Bids shall be submitted online. Bidder shall furnish Earnest Money Deposited, Integrity Pact, Pass Phrase and Board Resolution separately offline as detailed in RfS Documents before the stipulated bid submission closing date and time,” the document read.

NTPC has committed to have around 45-50% of its capacity to come from non-fossil fuels by 2030, with the medium-term target of 60 GW of renewable capacity by 2032. This, is also reflected in NTPC’s Energy Compact goals submitted to the United Nations (UN).

According to the annual report of NTPC Limited, during the FY 2022-23, the firm reported an all-time high-power generation of 399.2 BU, registering a growth of 11%. Moreover, eight of the firm’s coal stations figured in the top 25 best-performing stations of the country in terms of PLF and our coal-based stations registered a PLF of 75% against the country’s coal PLF of 64%. The company is India’s power generator behemoth with its portfolio expanding from coal, solar, wind to floating solar among others. The company recently also had issued tender seeking consortiums to explore the possibilities of India’s first ever offshore wind projects.
