NTPC Group Crosses 3 GW Operational Renewable Capacity

India’s largest energy conglomerate, NTPC reached the milestone of 3 GW operational capacity following the commissioning of 100 MW of solar capacity at its Nokhra Project in Rajasthan.

With the launch of its 92 MW floating solar project at Kayamkulam, Kerala, the group had already passed 2 GW on June 24, 2022. The initial GW was attained on March 27, 2020.

With a total capacity of 3094 MW, the NTPC group now has 36 operating RE projects distributed across 12 states. The country’s three largest floating solar projects are located in Telangana, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh, making up the largest floating solar portfolio in the country with a capacity of 262 MW.

NTPC increased its renewable capacity by 1242 MW during the current fiscal year. India’s largest power utility increased its renewable capacity by 1242 MW during the current fiscal year. While 5 GW are now in varying stages of implementation, another 7 GW are in the tendering process.

NTPC wants to install more than 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by the year 2032. The group’s installed and commercial capacity stands at 70824 MW. 

Earlier, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) invited online bids from eligible bidders on a Single Stage Two Envelope basis for the supply of power transformer supply package-II (South Block) under the development of 4750 MW NTPC Renewables Khavda RE park, Rann of Kutch, Gujarat.

Additionally, NTPC Ltd crossed the 1 GW annual capacity in the renewable energy (RE) segment by adding 1074.59 MW RE capacity in FY23 taking the total NTPC non-fossil capacity to 9.41%.
