NTPC Fully Commissions 220 MW Shajapur Solar Project in MP By Junaid Shah/ Updated On Mon, Jun 30th, 2025 Highlights : NTPC completes the final phase of 220 MW solar project NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd has successfully commissioned the full 220 MW capacity of its Shajapur Solar Project (Unit-II) in Madhya Pradesh. The final phase, comprising 120 MW, was declared commercially operational on 29 June 2025, as confirmed through a regulatory filing. The project was executed by NTPC Renewable Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Ltd, which itself is part of NTPC Group’s expanding renewable portfolio. NTPC Accelerates Toward 60 GW RE Target With the commissioning of the Shajapur project, NTPC has taken another step toward its ambitious 2032 goal of installing 60 GW of renewable energy capacity, aimed at replacing 45 percent of its overall power generation with clean energy. This development comes close on the heels of the company commissioning the final 52 MW unit at Plot-3 of its Nokh Solar PV Project in Rajasthan, part of a larger 3×245 MW solar initiative. Balancing Renewable Growth with Energy Demand India’s rapidly rising power demand has prompted NTPC to scale both renewable and thermal generation capacities. Even as solar projects go live, the company is also advancing its conventional power infrastructure. Its 3,300 MW Barh Super Thermal Power Project in Bihar is set to become fully commercially operational from 1 July 2025. Under the partnership, SEforALL will assist in drafting NTPC’s energy transition roadmap aligned with India’s energy security, development goals, and net-zero targets.
