NTPC Commissions First Part of 300 MW Bikaner's Nokhra Solar Project

The Nokhra Solar Project in Rajasthan, which has a 300 MW capacity, has had its first 100 MW of capacity put into service by NTPC, the largest electricity producer in India.

According to a regulatory filing recently by the business, "First portion capacity of 100 MW out of 300 MW Nokhra Solar Project at Bikaner, Rajasthan, is declared on Commercial Operation with effect from 00:00 hours of 20.12.2022."

As a result, NTPC's standalone installed and commercial capacity has increased to 58209 MW and its group installed and commercial capacity will increase to 70824 MW, according to the statement.

NTPC had earlier this month completed the 150 MW and 90 MW Devikot solar power plants in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy of the Central Government developed the 150 MW Devikot-I and 90 MW Devikot-II Solar PV projects under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Scheme Phase-II Tranche-I.

The projects were awarded to NTPC by SECI in 2019 after a Viability Gap Funding (VGF)-based competitive bidding process, and they were developed by HILD Energy in an EPC with land mode, where the land needed for the project was arranged by the EPC vendor.

Recently, NTPC Ltd crossed the 1 GW annual capacity in the renewable energy (RE) segment by adding 1074.59 MW RE capacity in FY23 taking the total NTPC non-fossil capacity to 9.41%.

Additionally, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) invited online bids from eligible bidders on a Single Stage Two Envelope basis for the supply of power transformer supply package-II (South Block) under the development of 4750 MW NTPC Renewables Khavda RE park, Rann of Kutch, Gujarat.
