Energy conglomerate, NTPC has awarded India’s largest contract for alkaline electrolysers to Hild Electric Private Limited, a Chennai-based firm that delves into the manufacture and deployment of electrolysers. The contract will pave the path for Hild Electric to supply Alkaline electrolyser technology to NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (REL).

Under the partnership, the advanced electrolyser systems that boast a capacity of up to 600 MW across a wide range of industrial applications, including ammonia production, transportation, and power generation, among others, will be provided. This will support the green hydrogen ambition of NTPC to touch 150 kTPA by 2032.

Hild Electric, said it will employ stacks combined with purifiers and separators to deliver a dynamic and highly efficient solution that seamlessly integrates with renewable energy resources. This will make it possible to produce green hydrogen.

Hild Electric stated, “Partnering with NTPC REL as their preferred technology provider on  what is the largest Alkaline electrolyser deal in India is an incredible breakthrough”, while adding, “Hild Electric appreciates CMD (NTPC) and CEO (NTPC Renewables) for their vision and  commitment in Green Hydrogen. NTPC’s forward-thinking approach has continuously enabled it  to be first amongst its peers to adopt innovative clean technologies. This approach will be  instrumental in supporting the ‘Make in India’ initiative by the Honourable Prime Minister of India,  enabling India to become a Green Hydrogen powerhouse.”

NTPC has taken several initiatives in Hydrogen technologies. It is executing hydrogen-based mobility project in Ladakh and Delhi and green methanol project in Madhya Pradesh. Back in March, NTPC REL forged a partnership with the Indian Army to set up Green Hydrogen projects in its establishments.
