Norwegian Energy Associations Norwea, Energi Norge Merge RUVNL's 1 GW Tender Sees Mahindra Susten, SAEL, Avaada Among Winners

Norwegian energy associations Norwea and Energi Norge have combined to create a new entity called Fornybar Norge. The new firm will be a large interest organisation committed to renewable energy in Norway. The said organisation will begin operations from January 1 next year.

The merger received approval unanimously after both the companies organised their yearly meetings this week.

Fornybar Norge will be forging cooperations with other firms in renewable energy to formalise through its own agreements. This will apply initially to District Energy, the Solar Energy Cluster, the Norwegian Hydrogen Forum, the Small Power Association and Norwegian Remote Heating. However, in the future, more firms may be added.

“Renewable energy offers fantastic opportunities for Norway. We have the resources, technologies and expertise to create jobs and green growth across the country based on renewable energy. Fornybar Norge’s most important task will be to work to ensure that Norway seizes these opportunities with both hands,” said Norwea Managing Director Aslaug Haga.

“With the pace at which we are currently developing renewable energy, it is not just the climate targets that are being missed. The same also applies to the opportunity to create green growth and strengthen the industry’s competitiveness. More licences must be put in place quickly, and we need contributions from both water, onshore wind, offshore wind and solar. The time when we discussed which technologies to focus on is over. Now it’s time to focus on everything that is renewable,” added Energi Norge CEO Knut Kroepelien.”

Norwea, which stands for Norwegian Wind Power Association, is an independent body for firms in the wind power value chain. The Association has 120 members within its ambit and is a member of WindEurope.

Energi Norge is an employer organisation and it represents 335 renewable energy companies. Energi Norge is affiliated with NHO- The Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO), which is Norway’s largest organisation for employers and a leading business lobbyist.
