The Nordex Group has announced that it has received an order to supply and install a total of 40 AW132/3300 and two AW132/3000 wind turbines with a combined rated output of 138 megawatts (MW) in Mexico.

The project will be built in the state of Tamaulipas in the north-east of Mexico; the installation will start in spring 2020. The turbines, which will have a hub height of 120 meters, will be installed on concrete towers manufactured locally by the Nordex Group at its Mexican manufacturing plant in Marín, located in the state of Nuevo León. In the immediate vicinity of the wind farm is also a 180 MW wind farm with AW125/3000 turbines, which the Nordex Group already built-in 2018.

The order also includes a two-year full-service contract.

In October, the company had reported that in the third quarter of 2019 its customers ordered 436 wind turbines with a total output of 1,700 megawatts (1.7 GW) for projects in 14 countries, almost doubling its order intake from the same quarter last year which recorded orders worth 974 MW.

As per the data provided by the firm, Europe accounts for 60 percent of orders from July to September, the USA for 28 percent and Latin America for 12 percent. At 49 percent, the latest generation turbine types – the Delta4000 platform – made up almost half of the order volume in the third quarter.

In addition to the projects already announced separately, the Nordex Group received major orders from Sweden, the USA, Brazil, Mexico and the UK in September. Overall, order intake (excluding the services business) in the first nine months of 2019 thus rose to 4.7 gigawatts, exceeding the total order intake for the same period last year by 1.6 GW.

More recently, it was reported that the turbine manufacturer had received orders for wind turbine deliveries for projects worth 248 MW in Turkey.

The first two orders have been received from the firms’ long-standing customer Boydak Enerji. Nordex Group will supply 21 N149/4.0-4.5 turbines with a rated capacity of 4.8 MW each for the “Ömerli” wind farm. On top of this, Boydak Enerji has ordered an additional 22 N117/3675 turbines for the “Sibel” project. The future 110.8 MW “Ömerli” wind farm will be built near Istanbul. The Nordex Group will build “Sibel”, with a total capacity of 80.9 MW, in the Aegean region between Izmir and Manisa.
