Nordex Orders 1.7 GW

The Nordex Group has announced that in the third quarter of 2019 its customers ordered 436 wind turbines with a total output of 1,700 megawatts (1.7 GW) for projects in 14 countries, almost doubling its order intake from the same quarter last year which recorded orders worth 974 MW.

As per the data provided by the firm, Europe accounts for 60 percent of orders from July to September, the USA for 28 percent and Latin America for 12 percent. At 49 percent, the latest generation turbine types – the Delta4000 platform – made up almost half of the order volume in the third quarter.

Patxi Landa, chief sales officer (CSO) of the Nordex Group, said that “we continue to see strong demand for our wind turbine systems in Europe and overseas, with the new Delta4000 series recording particularly great interest.”

In addition to the projects already announced separately, the Nordex Group received major orders from Sweden, the USA, Brazil, Mexico and the UK in September. Overall, order intake (excluding the services business) in the first nine months of 2019 thus rose to 4.7 gigawatts, exceeding the total order intake for the same period last year by 1.6 GW.

In August, the company had released its financial figures for the latest quarter and the first half of the current year. Reporting that the company installed a total of 242 wind turbines in 13 countries with a combined output of 778.1 MW (H1 2018: 934.4 MW) in the period.

It was reported that of the 252 turbines, Europe accounted for around 34.5 percent and non-European markets for 65.5 percent of the total. As a result of lower installation figures, sales in the projects segment reached EUR 810.7 million in the reporting period (H1 2018: EUR 797.1 million). While sales in the service segment rose by 12.2 percent to EUR 181.6 million in the first half of the year (H1 2018: EUR 161.8 million) to continue their steady growth.
