NLCIL Wins its Largest Renewable Energy Project of 810 MW in RRVUNL Tender

CPSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of Coal, NLC India Limited (NLCIL), has emerged as a successful bidder for 810 MW grid connected solar photovoltaic power projects in a tender floated by Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL). The said capacity is to be set up in 2000 MW Pugal Solar Park in Tehsil- Pugal, Bikaner, Rajasthan.

NLCIL bagged the total capacity of 810 MW for a tariff of INR 2.64 per unit. The Letter of Intent for the same was issued by RRVUNL. This project is to be developed for renewable energy bundling requirements of RRVUNL. This project will offset carbon emissions to the tune of
46,628.56 tons, considering the lifetime electricity generation of approximately 48,170.00 million units. Electricity generating firm, RVUNL, will provide the land for the project and the power evacuation system connected to state transmission utilities (STU).

Presently, NLCIL boasts an installed renewable energy capacity of 1431.06 MW with 2110 MW of renewable energy in pipeline. NLCIL proposes to develop renewable energy capacity of 6031 MW as per its corporate plan 2030.

In a recent interview to Saur Energy International, Prasanta Kumar Motupalli, CMD of NLCIL spoke about his ambitions from the firm.
