NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NLC India Limited, has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) for setting up a 600 MW solar power project integrated with a 300 MW / 1,800 MWh energy storage system (ESS), the company informed stock exchanges on Tuesday.
The project has been awarded under SECI’s larger 1,200 MW solar capacity tender combined with 600 MW / 3,600 MWh of energy storage, floated through a tariff-based competitive bidding process.
Project Scope and Timelines
According to the regulatory disclosure, NIRL formally accepted the LoA on February 3, 2026, in line with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
Under the terms of the award, power generated from the project will be supplied for a period of 25 years through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). The Scheduled Commencement of Supply Date (SCSD) for the entire contracted capacity has been fixed at 24 months from the effective date of the PPA.
Strengthening Renewable Portfolio
NLC India Limited, a Navratna public sector enterprise under the Government of India, continues to expand its presence in the renewable energy sector as part of its clean energy transition strategy.
Recently, NLC commissioned the third and final phase of its 300 MW solar project at Barsingsar in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district, following which its total installed renewable energy capacity rose to 1,766 MW. The latest award further adds to this growing portfolio of solar and energy storage projects aligned with national decarbonisation goals.
