Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited (MPPMCL) has issued a tender inviting bids for the procurement of 500 MW of energy storage capacity with a discharge duration of six hours and a maximum discharge period of hours. The energy storage system will harness the potential of Pumped Hydro Storage Plants (PHSPs) for a 40-year duration anywhere in India.

The due date for online submission of techno commercial bid and price bid is upto November 6, 2023. The due date for hard copy submission of techno commercial bid is November 6, 2023.

The techno-commercial bid opens on (except price bid) November 6, 2023. The bid security is INR 5,00,000 per MW. The bid remains valid for a period of one Hundred and Eighty (180) days from the original due date for online submission of techno-commercial bid and price bid.

PHSPs in Madhya Pradesh 

Madhya Pradesh has emerged as a favoured site for pumped storage projects. The State has announced a series of initiatives to push PSPs, notable among them is the allotment of a 525 Megawatt of Pumped Storage Project (PSP) to NHDC Limited, a joint venture of the National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC) and the Madhya Pradesh government.

Earlier in the year, Hyderabad-based clean energy firm Greenko Group also announced an investment of INR 10,000 crores in a Pumped Storage Project (PSP) to be established near Gandhi Sagar in the Neemuch district of Madhya Pradesh.
