MNRE Calls For Proposals To Fund Under RE-RTD Program for 2022

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy runs the Renewable Energy Research and Technology Development program (RE-RTD), with an aim to promote indigenous technology development for wide spread deployment of new and renewable energy in an efficient and cost effective manner across the country. Applications for the cohort seeking support will open from June 1, with a last date of July 10 for submissions. Firms will be selected for the period 2021-22 to 2025-26.

Submissions can be made at Mnre-research.com as per the notification dated May 26.

Objectives

The Re-RTD program seeks to support various areas of new and renewable energy such as solar photovoltaic systems, biogas systems, waste to energy systems, wind energy systems, hybrid systems, storage systems, hydrogen and fuels cells, geothermal energy etc. with the ultimate aim of increasing the share of renewables in the energy mix in the country.

Eligible Applicants

The program is open to

i) R & D / Academic Institutions including Engineering Colleges (both Public & Private duly accredited by Government bodies),

ii) Public/Private Industries,

iii) Societies registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860,

iv) Trusts registered under the Indian Trusts Act 1882,

v) NGOs,

vi) Start Ups duly recognized by Department for Promotion and Internal Trade (DPIIT)
and

vii) Organizations engaged in Research & Development for promotion of new & renewable energy

Funding Support

Upto 100% financial support to Government/non-profit research organizations/academic institutions/research institutions and upto 50% to Industry/Startups/Private Institutes/Entrepreneurs. Ministry may also provide financial support up to 70% of the project cost to Industry/ Private Institutes/ Research Organization/Start-ups for upgrading the technology from Low Technology Readiness Level (TRL) to High TRL with the endorsement of R&D Project Appraisal Committee (RDPAC).

Solar Energy

For research in the solar domain, the program covers the following areas:

– Re-cycling of PV modules at end of life and processes for segregation/reuse of different components of PV module.

– Development of hybrid inverters suitable for Indian Grid.

– Development of high efficiency (6’x6’ or more) perovskite /organic/multijunction solar cell.

– Development of low cost and efficient PV based thermal storage systems for refrigeration in cold storages, milk chillers and air conditioners.

– Development of solar cooking system(chulha) with storage.

– Waste water recovery from industrial waste through solar technologies.

– Innovative Solar thermal technologies for cooling/process heating for Industrial applications.

– Study of the environmental impact on development of large scale solar power plants or solar parks.

– Automatic shadow detection via digital image process for solar rooftops.

– Development of portable solar rooftop power plant with plug and play system.

– Development of high capacity solar pumps and irrigation systems for hilly regions.

– Development of Universal Solar Pump Controller (USPC).

– Sustainable cleaning of PV modules.

– Innovative Agro PV based solar plants.
