Renewable energy platform Matrix Renewables and RPlus Energies, a diversified renewable energy development firm, have launched Pleasant Valley Solar, a 200MWac/261MWdc solar project in Idaho’s Ada County.

Once the solar facility starts operating, the project will be the largest solar facility in Idaho Power’s service territory. The power generated will be injected into the same grid providing support to Meta’s new data centre located in Idaho.

Earlier, Matrix Renewables acquired a controlling interest in Pleasant Valley Solar from RPlus Energies, which has originally developed the project and continues to be a minority interest owner.

Cindy Tindell, Managing Director and Head of US for Matrix Renewables said, “This groundbreaking is the next big step toward making the Pleasant Valley Solar project a reality for the people and future of Idaho, supporting its transition to locally produced clean, green energy.

“RPlus is proud to work with Meta and Idaho Power as long-term partners to help achieve their sustainability goals and manage the region’s transition to renewable energy,” RPlus Energies President and Chief Executive Luigi Resta stated while adding, “We are equally proud to partner with Matrix Renewables, who share our deep respect and commitment to renewable power generation for Ada County and the surrounding community.”

Sundt Renewables will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services, while BODEC will look into high voltage electrical contracting services. The Pleasant Valley Solar project will get modules from ET Solar.

Earlier, First Solar, Inc. and Matrix Renewables announced a significant collaboration in the renewable energy sector. Matrix, the TPG Rise-backed global renewable energy platform, entered into a framework agreement to procure approximately 2.1 gigawatts (GWDC) of advanced thin film modules from First Solar.
