British firm Lightsource Renewable Energy has announced that it has secured a 50 MW solar project out of 450MW tender floated by SECI in Maharashtra.
The company in a statement said that this is the maiden solar project secured by Lightsource in India.
It will receive benchmark tariff support of Rs.4.43/kWh, combined with viability gap funding (VGF) of Rs.1.96 million/MW.
Nick Boyle, CEO, Lightsource said: “We are delighted to be taking the first steps towards our ambitions for investment in India’s solar PV market. The Indian government has a huge appetite for solar energy and we believe that Lightsource will contribute significantly towards their target.”
